About the Tournament

In the mid-1980′s, the Nueces County A&M Club (formerly the Corpus Christi A&M Club) and the 12th Man Foundation formed the Corpus Christi A&M Club’s Scholarship Golf Tournament as a scholarship fundraiser for the Club. The tournament was a huge success, and to this day remains one of the Club’s most successful fundraisers.

On June 26, 1990, the Nueces County A&M Club, the 12th Man Foundation, and the Association of Former Students decided to name the tournament in honor of George Puls, Jr. ’44. Mr. Puls was the driving force in the organization and promotion of the tournament.

All proceeds collected from this tournament fund the Nueces County A&M Scholarship Program for local high school students. The George Puls, Jr. ’44 Memorial Golf Tournament is open to the public.

2016 Tournament

The 2016 George Puls Jr. ’44 Memorial Golf Tournament was a great success ! We had 20 teams sign up and with 80 players and we raised a significant amount of money for our scholarship fund. We had several fantastic raffle items, silent auction items, and prizes for the winners of the tournament. We recognized Sarah Gilliam and Ryan Narvaez, recipients of this year’s Nueces County A&M Club scholarships. They join 12 other students on the role of NCAMC scholars.

We also had an outstanding group of volunteers that contributed to help make it a highly successful fundraising event and I want to thank each and every one of you for your hard work. It could not have happened without you!

Thanks to our sponsors and donors for their continued support and participation–it is greatly appreciated!

Thank you to our 12th Man Sponsors: Mike Shaw Toyota and LJA engineering

and all of our Maroon and White Sponsors. Hole in one sponsor: Mike Shaw Toyota, and our water and gatorade sponsor: HEB

The money raised will be added to our current scholarship endowment to award scholarships for Nueces County students attending Texas A&M. This was an outstanding demonstration of the Nueces County Aggie’s commitment to our scholarship fundraising efforts for local students.

We hope everyone had a great time and we hope to see you again next year.

Thanks and Gig ‘Em,
Derek Chang ’07
